Fed: Managers take Ansett to the industrial court

A break-away group of Ansett middle managers is taking the airline to the industrialcourts in a bid to save thousands of dollars of entitlements from being lost in the Tesnatakeover.

Eighteen managers and senior staff employed through Ansett's hospitality arm, AustralianConcession Management, claim they are being illegally forced to stand down.

GORDON HENDERSON, representing the 18 workers, says unions have ensured all Ansettworkers' rights and entitlements are protected.

But he says the group of middle managers employed through ACM has been thrown on the scrap heap.

The group had been told they must resign from Ansett before taking on positions withTesna where they would be paid 75 per cent of their previous salary.

The workers have put a request before the Australian Industrial Relations Commissionfor a six-month interim award to protect the group while the Tesna sale deal goes ahead.
