NSW: Man missing in river after trying to rescue child
SYDNEY, Dec 8 AAP - A 34-year-old man is missing after trying to rescue a boy froma river in NSW's southwest.
Police said the search resumed at first light today for the Junee man, who disappearedyesterday afternoon in the Murrumbidgee River east of Wagga Wagga.
Witnesses said the man went into the river about 3pm (AEDT) to help the seven-year-oldboy who had got into difficulties while swimming at a picnic area known as Oura Beach.
The boy was rescued but the man disappeared underwater, police said.
Wagga Wagga police and the members of the Volunteer Rescue Association were unableto find the man before nightfall.
Police divers left Sydney today to join the search.
